I started this project about a year ago, after buying a ZyXEL Prestige 100IH ISDN router. I wanted to be able to use the information that the router could send as syslog messages.

About a week ago a friend of mine said he also had an ISDN router from DLINK and was intrested in my program. That's when I made the project Open Source under Gnu GPL to make it available to others aswell, with the intention of supporting other ISDN routers in the future.

Perhaps some day even support other kinds of hardware that can generate caller id information, such as modems.

2000-08-08 - First release

I released CIPS 0.1 today. The server should be pretty stable, I've used without problems for almost a year. The web UI seems to be alright, please submit bugs if you find any. The first release includes:
  • The server, records incoming calls and send information to connected clients
  • A webinterface written in php3 for viewing and updating the database.
  • A very simple javaclient that only pops up window with the name (if the person is known) and phonenumber of an incoming call

In the future

The plans for the future is to have a full-featured Java- and Gnomeclient for using the dabase.
In the current version, security has not been considered. This is also something I have to look into in future releases.

CIPS 1.02000-10-13
cips-server-1_0.jar
cips-client-1_0.jar
cips-source-1_0.tar.gz
No changes made since 0.1.1, packaged as jars. cips-client includes the php3-script.

Requirements:

Server

Java Client

Web Interface

  • Apache server with PHP3 (don't know if PHP4 will work) support
Currently, look in cips/server/doc/INSTALL for installation instructions. They will be available here when they are ready.

Cips 0.1.1

Due to my minimized brain :) I had used TIMESTAMP instead of DATETIME in the calls-table. The result of this was that when you changed a call from being new the time also changed.
